Center for the Mind, Brain, and Computation

I thought you might be interested in this article on the developing Center for the Mind, Brain, and Computation here at Stanford. The Center aims to take an interdisciplinary approach to studying the brain and its various processes.

Who knows, maybe some of you will be part of this group in the future!

This seems like a really interesting new facility for Stanford. It is an extremely interesting approach to combine these various areas of study. Will the center also contain undergraduate programs? I know the article mentioned a possible graduate student training program, but will undergraduates eventually be able to pursue this area of study?? I think the entire idea is very interesting and cant wait to see it become a full reality.

I would imagine that undergrads will get to participate in the center too at some point...at least I hope so!

I found it interesting that Newsome seeks to establish where neurons in the brain are and what their individual functions are. It seems like a very difficult task that will take many years and dedication. But, in the future, it will be nice to be able to read about what neurons do.

Bernard Widrow, my thesis advisor, is listed as one of the co-investigators on the grant proposal.
