Here's more information on the "super-memorist", Rajan Mahadevan, who was able to recite all those digits of pi.
Interestingly, he has a doctorate in Cognitive Psychology from Florida State!

Do you think he was able to memorize it simply b/c he worked on it so many times. Think of your phone number or ss # and how easily it flows w/o thinking about it
I think it's partially memorization but also that he was able to come up with various strategies on how to remember those numbers!
